Kseniya Simonova met the Tchernobyl liquidators in the Evpatorya’s Museum of the Tchernobyl Catastrophe

The winners and laureates of the International contest «The Star of Tchernobyl», which took place in Moscow, received their awards today in the Museum of Tcernobyl «Zvezda Polyn». The fact that the works of the students of Evpatoriya’s Art School of Jury Volkov (where studied Kseniya) were awarded with Diplomas, memorial cups and prizes — is not surprising: young artists of Evpatoriya managed to pass the filling of the Tchernobyl tragedy brightly and emotionally with the help of drawing and painting.

Kseniya Simonova became a special guest of the Ceremony, and that was initiated by the community of Tchernobyl Liquidators of Evpatoriya, who founded the Museum a month ago. Since opening of the Museum, Kseniya’s Sand Film «Eternal Tears» devoted to the tragedy of Tchernobyl is being translated on the screens of the Museum every day, and to the mind of the curators, her work inspired them on creating this exposition.

Kseniya Simonova met an «Arsenal» football star in Prague, and he will become a hero of her new sand story

The Lady of the Sand arrived to the capital of Czech Republic to meet one of the brightest and most creative players of FC «Arsenal». This city was not accidentally chosen as a meeting point — as an artist, Kseniya is totally in love with the place, and her interviewee in many ways is related to Prague.

Help to save the life of little Dasha!

Kseniya Simonova continues helping children creating her sand films devoted to those who suffer with horrible illness. The new heroine of Kseniya’s sand story is a title girl named Dasha (short from Dariya).

— I received a letter from a lady volunteer from Denmark, Olga Volkova, — says Kseniya, — It was on the day of my Birthday. After reading the information about this little girl suffering with a rare and really horrible illness, I immediately started creating a sand story devoted to her, as the volunteers asked. Looking at her photos, I thought how tiny she is, like a little elf from a fairy tale. At the same time, her sight was not childish at all, it was an adult sight of a person who is suffering… I thought of her Mother, Irina, who was always near her, who is fighting for dasha’s tiny life every day and knows that to recover, they need to pass an extremely long way… I thought of so many things.

Today we remember the Chernobyl Tragedy which happened 26 years ago. For Ukrainian Sand Artist Kseniya Simonova this day is a day of a Memory, a very important day because of some reasons.

Kseniya Simonova:
— Today is the day which used to break our life into two pieces — of «before» and «after». This day. Twenty six years ago things changed forever and lives of millions people in our country and outside our country filled with horror and pain. Today is a memory of Chernobyl Catastrophe.

When it all happened, I was only one year old, and of course, I don’t remember what was going on around me these tragic days. But from an early age I used to hear this strange word «Chernobyl» which was spoken with tears.

«The Dawn of Hope» by Kseniya Simonova — devoted to those who deserve a better life

This is a sand story created by Kseniya Simonova which is devoted to children suffering with Juvenal Revmatoid Arthritum. The peculiarity of this illness is the fact that the children can not grow up higher than a ten year old child, whatever they are 16, 19 or become adults. Most of the time they spend in bed as the other kids play in the courtyard, play sports or go to school. All their life is a suffer – they have horrible pains, heart suffer. In the early age their mothers wake up every half hour at night to check the temperature of the body: if it raises, it can immediately raise to the highest degree and there will be no way to save the child. Kseniya decided to create such story after meeting a little girl Soniya, aged 7 who suffered this illness. Simonova says that she will never forget this moment. Now she tries to turn attention of the government of Ukraine to this problem as these children have a real chance to grow up normally and recover if they receive the proper medicaments which are extremely expensive for the families by which can and must be payed by the government.

Happy Easter!

Dear Friends!

Today is the happiest Day of all historical times! This Day is when the greatest Miracle was given to us — the Christ has risen!

I am an Orthodox Christian and we celebrate Easter this Sunday. But I am also happy to congratulate the Christians who celebrated Easter last Sunday.

I just asked myself, what is Easter to me? Since the early childhood I was in Church, studied in a Church School. Of course, I knew that Easter is a Day when the Christ has risen, that God gave His Beloved Son to our World to save all of us, but He was killed by the people He came to save. Continue reading

Kseniya Simonova devoted her new sand story to the beauty of New York City, Brooklyn Bridge and Lincoln car

The Lady of the Sand created a new sand story being inspired by the images of the spring in New York City, the famous panorama view of NY from the ocean, the aesthetics of the Brooklyn Bridge and a new model of the Lincoln car. Kseniya and her Creative Group Simonova.TV shot the film in Kseniya’s sand VideoStudio in Evpatoriya and now are happy to present the result to the Internet Community. Here is how Mrs Simonova comments her artwork:

— The sight of NY is one of the most inspiring ones for an artist, I think. The story is called «Spring in New York» and is full of romantic sights — it starts with the line crossing the frame by diagonal which then pears to be a part of the Brooklyn Bridge. Then the well-known buildings appear in the back6 and suddenlyy we recognize the whole picture as a collage of different NY panorama views. There is a romantic episode there — the love story of a young couple which inspired the Artist on creating a picture. and slowly the spring night full of stars captures the city… I hope the audience will enjoy this piece as i and my Team enjoyed creating and shooting it, — Kseniya says.

We are asking for your Prayers

Dear Friends!

In my native town of Evpatoriya a horrible tragedy happened last week. There was a big fire which destroyed the apartment in one of the buildings. There was an eight-year old boy inside with his old grandmother. Poisoned with the smoke, the grandmother died immediately, and the boy called Nikita was taken to the hospital in a critical condition.

Almost all the week the doctors were fighting for his life, but he is now feeling worse and worse. After poisoning with the toxic smoke, his brain suffered so much that the doctors say that there is not much hope. But we know that wonders happen. We are kindly asking for your prayers, please help little boy, maybe your sincere prayer will help him to return to us, to his parents…

This sand story is devoted to this Hope, to this little boy Nikita. Please pray, if you can…

Thank you and God bless!

Sencerely yours,
Kseniya Simonova

«When I received the questions, it was a late night, 2 a.m. and after a long shooting day I was going to bed. But I really liked the questions, they were interesting, I felt I want to answer immediately. Normally I am asked the questions like «When and why did you start practicing with sand?» or «Why did you go to «Ukraine’s Got Talent?» This time it was exciting to answer.

Mexico: Kseniya Simonova devoted her Sand Story to people with Bipolar Disorder

After receiving a letter from the representatives of the specialized source for people with Bipolar disorder (based in Mexico) VideBipolar, the Lady of the Sand created one of her the most surrealistic stories called «The Miracle of the Brain».

She devoted this piece of art to those who suffer with this psychiatric illness according to the request from the VidaBipolar Community which unites people from the Spanish-language countries who fight with the Bipolar disorder, aimed to be a communicator between the people, to avoid the feeling of loneliness and depression, to help in socializing and provide the quickest remission. This Community was found by the people with Bipolar disorder for people with the same problem. Devoted to Nataliya Vodianova

This sand Story was created as a gift to my Friend and truly a Great Person Nataliya Vodianova who has recently celebrated her Birthday.

There are people in the world, whose Kindness, Sincerity and Eternal Empathy inspire. Whose open Heart and feeling of someone’s sorrow deeply touch me and teach a new look at what used to seem usual.

Almost a year passed since I first met Nataliya, and since that time, I saw what a real Kindness is. Just one request to Nataliya and her Foundation about help to our children from Simferopol Orphanage House, to give them what all of them were dreaming about — a Playcourt — and in a short time they received an amazing one, which, I think, no one else have. That was Nataliya, and that was real Nataliya…

Kseniya Simonova: «Our Men are Our Pride»

The Ukrainian sand Artist Kseniya Simonova created a sand film devoted to all men of the world. «Devoted to our beloved defenders», — she writes with sand in the beginning.

The storyboard of the Film is more allegorical than exact, it doesn’t show strictly some epoch, but gives an opportunity to the audience to think of something more important. For example, about the fact that a day of a real man is full of altruism and devotion to those who are nearby. In Ukraine, as well as Russia and some Former Soviet countries this day is celebrated as The Day of the Defenders of the Motherland. Nowadays it is non-officially known as the Day of all Men.

Kseniya Simonova renewed her «Ukraine’s Got Talent» Super-final

Dear Friends! I am happy to present you a sand story which i first have shown at the «Ukraine’s got Talent» show in the superfinal. This story is called «Don’t be too late!» and it is devoted to parents, who always love us, who are always waiting for us, for our call… One call which is so easy to do — but we never have time — one call can make their day. Because they gave us birth. How simply it sounds, but now I can get it — because I have a son.

When I created this story, almost three years ago, it was a story for the super-final of «Ukraine’s Got Talent», but honestly, I didn’t create it to win the project. I just was happy to have one more opportunity (after performing at Semi-Final) to tell the audience in the live show about the theme which worries me so much! It happened so that I won the contest, but even if I did not, I wouldn’t be less happy. Because people saw this, and at least one of two of them (those who came to me after the show was finished and told about it) called their Moms and Dads, who they didn’t call for ages. That is more important that a win, really. Creating this story was a very, very difficult process and I wasn’t sure I will be able to show it normally in live, but… thank God! Maybe, I could show it in front of such a big audience just because He wanted someone to call his parents. I think, it may be so…

The world famous Russian top-model Nataliya Vodianova and her «The Naked Hearts Foundation» made a present for the Ukrainian Orphans in Simferopol

The world famous Russian top-model Nataliya Vodianova and her «The Naked Hearts Foundation» made a present for the Ukrainian Orphanage House in Simferopol. Nataliya knew about these kids who are dreaming of a big play court and has built an enormous fairy-tale kid’s town specially for the children of that Orphanage House. Nataliya knew about their dream from her friend, Ukrainian Sand Artist Kseniya Simonova.

For more than two years the Sand Artist Kseniya Simonova is helping the orphans from the Simferopol’s Orphanage House (situated in Kseniya’s region Crimea, in the South of Ukraine). Kseniya confesses that this friendship is her best achievement after winning «Ukraine’s Got Talent»:
- It is such a great joy — when they meet me in the doors, yelling: «Kseniya! Kseniya came!» When I bring presents and clothes, when they tell me about their school achievements. I am always proud of their success, I pity their disappointments, I know who the eldest girls are in love with… They have become a part of me, my family, and I always tell about them wherever I come to perform. So, my children — as I call them — are real superstars, — smiles Kseniya, — And today one of my dreams came true. Because they have made friends with an amazing person, a real charity lady and mother, the top-model Nataliya Vodianova.

Kseniya Simonova: «We are honored to see a new Artist being born!»

Today Kseniya Simonova is presenting an extraordinary virtual exhibition to the Internet-community. But Kseniya is not the author of this Exhibition:
«I have a big honor to present a new name to the visitors of my web-site and both YouTube accounts», — says the famous Sand Artist, — «A young lady photographer called Yana Korokhina is making her first steps as a professional art. She is only thirteen, a teenager who likes doing what the other children at this age do: dancing, playing sports, making friends. She started making the pictures with the help of the camera of her mobile phone, trying to edit them in the graphical programs of the same phone…
Some time ago Yana has shown the result to me and my Team. We were really stunned with what we have seen. This sort of — I call it — „artistic sight“ is very rare not only among children, but also among adults. There is more peculiarity concerning this gifted girl — she has no parents and lives in the Orphanage House».

Kseniya Simonova is presenting to the Internet-community a Sand Story about the Japan and the March 2001 tragedy — «Life Always Wins»

Kseniya Simonova, the Ukrainian sand Artist, and her creative Team Simonova.TV have just finished working on the video film based on the Sand Story, presented by Simonova in Tokyo in the end of January.

Having returned to her native place Evpatoroya (Ukraine). Kseniya immediately started working on the video version of her Sand Story «Life Always Wins» which was known only as a life performance. The shooting and editing process took place in the Sand Studio of Kseniya Simonova in Evpatoriya.

At the moment when the film was in the process of posprocessing, Kseniya received a letter from one of the big Japanese media inviting her to be a guest of the renown program on Japanese Tv, devoted to the memory of the tragedy. Kseniya agreed and now is working with her very busy schedule plan to find free time.

Premier in Tokyo: Kseniya Simonova presented her new Sand Story about the Japanese drama: earthquake, tsunami, Fukushima

A few days ago ago the Japanese audience had a chance to see a stunning sand art of Kseniya Simonova, the Lady of the Sand from Ukraine. She brought a premier — a story about Japan. It was devoted to a horrible tragedy which happened in March 2011. Kseniya confesses that she was deeply wounded by that drama:

«When it happened in Japan, I was in Monaco and when I saw the news I couldn’t believe my eyes! I was sitting in the hotel in front of the television and saying to myself: «That’s impossible! It can’t be true!» A giant tsunami wave smashed the city in a few minutes! For that time I have already had good friends in Japan, I had an experience of how great and professional partnership appears with the Japanese people — so for me it was a personal drama. The Japanese people are very noble and proud, it’s true that they die standing on their feet. It was proved by the heroism of the Fukushima’s liquidators. For me the Fukushima story is alike our own Ukrainian Tchernobyl tragedy. So in my head I started creating a sand story which could be an inspiration for the Japanese heroes. And after months of thinking I received an invitation from Japan to show this story in Tokyo, — the Sand Lady says.

The Time for Love

Russian Old Style New year is celebrated at night between 13th and 14th January. In the times of Russian Empire it used to be an official New Year, but now it is celebrated as a holiday of good old traditions and culture.

Kseniya Simonova and her creative team Simonova.TV has chosen this special day to congratulate her little friends from the Simferopol’s Orphanage House.

«The Christmas holidays has just finished, and the everyday life has come. I know that all children want the Holiday to last forever. That’s why we decided to congratulate the kids when — as they think — the time of surprises is over. Together with my husband Igor (producer of Kseniya) and the Team we have prepared a big Santa’s Bag with a big variety of presents. Actually, every time we come to the Orphanage House with presents, we give them in a very boring way — as I think. So — time to change the rules from boring into funny. We wanted every kid to put his hand into the bag and take off the present which he touches. The thing is that all the presents are different — so nobody will have the same one. It was much fun», — confesses Kseniya.

The sand artist Kseniya Simonova, winner of «Ukraine’s Got Talent» presented a specially created sand story devoted to St Nicolas.

Kseniya Simonova: «This Holy Person many times helped me in my life. When my and my husband’s business collapsed, it seemed that we won’t have money even to buy food. The crisis was in its power, we did not have where to live and did not know what to do. Our son Dima was less than a year then, I was not sure whether I will be able to buy products for him. I remember, once I came to the St Nicolas Church, which is the Main Cathedral of our city, Evpatoriya. Before you enter the church itself, you pass a gallery where on the walls there are icons of St Nicolas and his Holy Wonders. They are big, almost from the floor to the top. I stood there with my child and prayed with tears: „St Nicolas, you help people, you help those who have no money… I am begging you, please, learn me to do something to get money for food and apartment…“ In a few month I entered the casting of „Ukraine’s got talent“ which I won in half a year. I am sure it was St Nicolas who helped me, he did what I was begging him — gave me an idea how to work and survive».

«In May of 2008 Elana received her horrible diagnosis — Acute lymphoblastic leukemia — cancer of the blood. From May 2008 until January 2009 Elana was in the hospital of Simferopol (Crimea, Ukraine) without being home, seeing her beloved sister Sasha and friends. After leaving the hospital Elana had to take the chemotherapy in pills at home. In 2 months after the end of the2-year treatment Elana had a relapse — the disease has returned. One of the most beautiful and unusual shows of the Ukrainian Fashion Week was the presentation of the collection called «A Girl and the Sea» of a young Ukrainian Artist and Fashion Designer Liudmila Komardina. What the spectators saw was a pure art with a brave experimental point of view, but at the same time — something very academic and theatric. It was a mixture of drama and unreality with an imaginative sculpture of the textures, deep, allegorical images which shown the Designer as an Artist of an old and powerful School.

«I am very happy to be an Orthodox Christian. Since my childhood I knew that God hears everyone and it is worth asking and praying. If He doesn’t give you what you want — it means that He — with His love for us — knows that what we ask will harm us. If I don’t get what I want — I never say that God doesn’t hear me.

During the last two years my life is being changed greatly. I can’t say I wasn’t a happy person before becoming famous. I had another time of my live and it was amazing. But after winning „Ukraine’s Got Talent“ I understood that now, after giving me the win and the money prize, God says: „Don’t stop! Don’t dare to stop and relax in spending your money for your pleasure.

Money is nothing — look around! There are so many people who need your help. And there are so many topics that you must show in sand — war, suffer, tragedies and terrorism. To make the spectators feel what it is and fell sympathy to those who are in sorrow. On the other hand — you must tell about real Love, Kindness and Heroism to awoke people, to make them believe that they can do something important for the World“.

Since then I always work on it and it brings me real satisfaction. I really believe that there is no my own achievement in my success. It is God who helps me».

Though the Interview has no subtitles, it has very interesting episodes of Kseniya’s life and work which don’t need translaton.

By art or by our own examples — by all means — show them that LOVE IS STRONGER than horror! PEACE!”

This sand story was created by the famous sand artist from Ukraine Kseniya Simonova, winner of «Ukraine’s got talent». This sand film is devoted to the memory of the tragedy of 11th September which was a great shock for the artist.

Kseniya Simonova:«When it happened I was a schoolgirl and was a participant of a special Language programm for Ukrainian children who wanted to study the language in the USA. New York was one of the possible places we could be sent. On September,11th I came home after school and turned on TV. I couldn’t believe my eyes. The only thing I was thinking about was: «There are PEOPLE inside! Hundreds of people — someone’s children, wifes, husbands, someone’s parents!» I was very young but the sympathy I felt while watching that remained in me forever. At that time I never could think I will ever be a sand artist and will have such a strong visual instrument in my hands. Thank God, I have one. With a help of sand I created a small film. This is how I feel about 11th September. With all my heart I am against terrorism. I am longing for peace. Though I am a Ukrainian woman, the New York tragedy is my tragedy and the grief of all our planet. They say it has changed the world, it has broken stability and calmness. But I believe the world has also changed on the other side — we understood how precious is the Peace, we studied how much we love each other and will do all we can to avoid terror. By art or by our own examples — by all means — show them that LOVE IS STRONGER than horror! PEACE!”

After visiting Nuremberg and the main office of the «Puma» company, the sand artist Kseniya Simonova has returned to Ukraine and immediately came to her friends in Simferopol’s City Orphanage house with a mount of presents from «Puma».

— After I told the Management of the company about our kids from the orphanage house, about their talents and sport achievements, they proposed me to go to the Main «Puma» shop and take something for them as a present. Actually, I was very happy about that because I knew that in a couple of weeks they will all go to school and will have the sport lessons and they have no sportswear at all. That’s why I took as many things as I could carry, but I was afraid that the Management will consider me a shameless person who rubs their shop, — smiles Simonova. — But these guys are great people because they said that they are happy I took all these thing for kids without parents.

TWO LITTLE BOYS WHO NEED HELP

Today Kseniya Simonova has presented two sand stories in the Internet. They are devoted to two little boys who suffer with horrible diseases. With help of these films, sand artist hopes to turn attention to their tragedies and collect money for healing.

Kseniya says:

«The first sand film is called „Little Flower“. It is a story of a little boy Vlad Dyachenko, aged 5 month from Ukrainian place of Sumi. He suffers with Cerebral Palsy and epileptic seizures. Because of the muscles hyper tonus, the toddler can’t eat and his Mother Anna has to feed him with breast milk through sonde. When I knew about this boy, I immediately called his Mother and proposed help. His Mother is an amazing girl (she is 22) who struggles with illness since the boy was born. This young lady says that Vlad’s recovery is now the goal of her life. Two weeks ago we brought them to my mother-town Evpatoriya. Here we have one of the best hospitals and sanatoriums with this specialization. People all over the world come here to heal their children. The neurologist says that after two weeks of healing little Vlad has a bi recovery. When we came to visit them, we have also seen a great progress — his back became stronger, he started smiling, the hyper tonus began disappearing, the boy turns from his back to his stomach. He could not do it two weeks ago. This course of healing and the next one we will pay ourselves (me and my husband), but for fully rehabilitation, Vlad will need many courses. That’s why we have shooted a sand film about little Vladislav and put on my YouTube accounts. In the description I have put the bank requisites of his Mother. I really hope that there will be many people who would like to help this Little Flower to blossom. Vlad is a very good boy with a great will of life though he is only five month. He deserves to live a healthy live of a child who can walk, talk and play.»

How Eurovision 2011 became a sand-box

Yesterday there was a second big rehearsal on the stage of the Eurovision Arena. I love it here — Dusseldorf, people, art. Here I write about my impressions of both rehearsals, about press-conferences and about my life in Dusseldorf.

About the rehearsal: not so bad, but I had problems with my camera and the stage light. The team of the stage was rather professional and patient. They said that they’ve never worked with sand animation and all is unusual for them. I answered that I feel the same. Half in German, half in English. They laughed.

Honestly, my performance here is very complicated — the song lasts 3 min, and I must draw enormously quickly because my sand story used to be 7 minutes long instead of 3. Actually, I have never worked SO quick, that’s why I was worried about the Rehearsal even more than the singer. Germans are great guys — they are very punctual and exact, especially when I spoke German. My knowledge of German is a surprise for everybody here. And concerning me — I have finally found a good place to practice with the native speakers.

Kseniya Simonova: “I have found a new sand-box. In Monte-Carlo :)”

Hi, everyone! It’s me, Kseniya. Recently, I was invited to be a special guest of the “Amber” Chess Tournament. It is a big annual tournament and this one was the 20th and the last one, it is rather famous. Here, the grossmeisters from all over the world fight for the name of the Winner in two disciplines — “Quick Chess” and “Blind Chess”.

I was honored to open the Championship with a special sand story “Chess Drama” which I created for this Event. It was a big work done, cause to me, chess is more than a game. It is a Theatre, and even more… it is Life… Each chess figure has its own character, personality, intellect. I tried to do my best to make my story a drama, with love, plots, war and emotions. I hope I managed to do it and the audience took my performance with a big enthusiasm and ovations. I was really touched by this reaction, especially considering the fact that all these people are champions in the most intellectual game in the world. I was really pleased showing my sand story there.
