Kseniya Simonova performed before the Queen of Denmark

Master of sand animation performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the Danish Aalborg in the presence of Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II.

Crimean performance artist was a real highlight of the evening — this was noted by local media and organizers. Queen Margrethe also watched her performance.

— Preparations for this big concert began almost a year ago, — Kseniya says. — And although this is not my first performance in Denmark — it seems fifth — for me it was very exciting. The concert was held in the new building of «House of Music» (Musikkens Hus) of Aalborg, this colossal building with stunning acoustics. I performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of the Danish National Opera conductor Ramon Gamba. In the orchestra also played the famous Danish violinist Nikolaj Znaider, winner of the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels. Danes are an amazing audience. Two years ago I was honored to meet Danish Princess Marie who was very kind to my art. Now I performed before Her Royal Majesty Queen Margrethe. She sat in the front row, and despite the importance of Her presence, concert atmosphere was very warm. Her Majesty has some special power, she just glows, it’s almost physically felt. I was very happy when I was told that the Queen liked my performance, because those two sand stories, which I showed at the concert were special. The first story was created on a surprisingly gentle and profound work of Maurice Ravel’s — «Pavane». This story contains all the beautiful images that are peculiar to our culture — sunrise on the background of golden-domed churches, motherly love, fairy-tale characters. This is a fusion because Maurice Ravel is a French composer. I love not only his music, but his own as a figure of one of the most prominent periods of impressionism. The second story was created under the impression of «Polovtsian Dance» by Alexander Borodin, one of the acts of the opera «Prince Igor». This is a powerful work... On stage I ventured into the world of music and sand, forgetting everything. It was something incredible. I’m glad I enjoyed the process, as well as the audience in the hall — including Her Majesty.

In the near future Kseniya is getting ready to the premiere of the animated film «Love the Planet», specially created for the fund by Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Hasna of Morocco. This is the second film of their collaboration. The premiere will take place on Earth Day, April 22. And on May, 15 there will be a presentation of the book of Kseniya Simonova «Another Story», which will be accompanied by the opening of the personal exhibition of the same name.

Your work is by far the most creative thing I have ever seen. I was wondering if you would be traveling to Canada to perform if so when and where I must so a show of yours in person I just must
