Lady of the Sand and American composer and musician Guy Mendilow released the first video of a big project "The Tales of the Forgotten Kingdom" which will include live show in US, internet version, lectures, and many other things.
Tales from the Forgotten Kingdom is a global trek through beautiful songs and stories from Balkan and Mediterranean communities largely destroyed in WWII. The show brings attention to these largely forgotten communities by recasting traditional songs and legends, sung in the endangered language, Ladino. It’s geared towards those with little orno knowledge of Ladino cultures and sparks fasci nation through in an emotionally powerful, semi-theatrical experience.
- "Una Noche Al Bodre De La Mar (One Night at the Edge of the Sea)" is one of the stories of a big international project called "The Forgotten Kingdom" of American composer and musician Guy Mendilow and his Ensemble. Based on the true story of one of his wife’s family members, it tells the tale of a decorated captain from WWI, betrayed by a nation whose turn to fascism threatens all for which he fought and sacrificed.
This is the first of several videos to come.
- I am sure, Kseniya's sand animation would play a large part in attracting broader audiences, creating a more stirring experience, and, through this, helping audiences in the West know about robust cultures and traditions that are under-represented and a history that is virtually ignored.
Next video will come this summer. Enjoy watching!
